2020 MTV Video Music Awards Nominees and Winners

The 2020 MTV Video Music Awards were held on August 30, 2020, in New York City. The awards were originally scheduled to be held at Barclays Center with “limited or no audience” due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

MTV eventually removed the indoor component of the ceremony at Barclays and announced that the awards would be conducted in an outdoor virtually format across New York City.

Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande were the most nominated acts, with nine each. Gaga also took home the first MTV Tricon Award.
